Harry Peacocke Qualifies for Inter Counties Cross Country
Building on a strong season over the mud, which included wins in the South East Lancs Cross Country League and sixth place in the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championship, Harry will represent Greater Manchester at the Inter County Cross Country Championships at Loughborough on 7th March in the U13 age group.
Harry is one of a talented group of young athletes who are part of a Young Athlete Development Group at Rochdale Harriers, mixing youth focused events such as Sporthall with age appropriate endurance focused work alongside the clubs Senior Track Group. Coaching Assistant Jeff McCarthy stated that “Harry is a great example of a young athlete working hard to develop his talent, whilst also listening to coaches to ensure that his training is appropriate and doesn’t lead to burn out. We really hope he enjoys the experience and wish him the very best of luck.”.
Club Chairman, Nick Barton said “Rochdale Harriers has a great tradition in Cross Country, going back more than 100 years and of course includes our President Colin Robinson, who won the National and International U23 Championships in 1961. It is great to see Harry continuing that tradition and we hope to see a great result at Loughborough”.
