Rochdale Harriers and A.C.

Harriers do Relay Well at the Northern Road Relays 2025, Leigh.

21st September 2025

Biblical conditions greeted Sharon and all other athletes in the Northern Road Relays at Leigh.

On Saturday 20th September Rochdale Harriers took part in their third team relay this month. On 6th September it was the Cross Keys Road and Fell Relay. On the 14th September we competed in the North West Counties Road Relays, Stanley Park, Liverpool. Then yesterday, with flood warnings around the Manchester region, we competed in the Northern Road Relays at Leigh.

The weather was dreadful. It ‘chucked it down’ all day, turning a ‘road’ course into pretty much a trail race where road shoes struggled. The course was tricky with sharp bends and turns round cones with big puddles. It was muddy and slippy in parts.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Northern Road Relays is a massive event attracting the very best road runner athletes from the North. The standard is extremely high. The Rochdale athletes did us proud, competing against the bigger clubs with multiple teams of elite athletes 💪.

The results for Rochdale were as follows:

Men’s Team – Danny B, Andy W, Dave P, Dave A, Neil H Pete L finished 92nd out of 113 in a time off 2.30.47

Ladies Team 1 – Juliet S, Louise M, Danielle D, Susie H finished 46th out of 82 in a time of 1.51.48

Ladies Team 2 – Corina H, Helen C, Sharon A, Sam F finished 68th out of 82 in a time of 2.08.34

We would also like to say a great big thank you to all of our members who have taken part in relays this month, It’s been a very busy September! We are delighted that quite a few of our new members have taken part in the relays. Well done to everyone and thank you for representing our Club. The next step is cross country get your entries in closing date next week (SEL and/or Red Rose XC Leagues).

‘Team Rochdale’ is growing in numbers and getting ever stronger 💪
