Why Rochdale Harriers?
We are a friendly local club which supports your athletic ambitions, whether that is to be competitive or to enjoy the social aspects of training together. All ages (Juniors and Seniors) and abilities are welcome. Our members participate in a wide variety of activities depending on their preferences, from Parkrun, Road, Track, Trail and Fell to Cross Country. Runners often join us with a preference for one type of running and then find they enjoy exploring new activities they hadn’t tried before. The choice is yours. You can take part in three, free taster training sessions before deciding whether to join us (please complete the on-line PAR-Q form before attending).
Our Training
Seniors’ Training
Training sessions for Seniors are held at the Kingsway Sports Arena on Tuesdays. Please arrive at about 18:45 for a 19:00 start. Before your first session, please contact us first and complete the PARQ form to check for health issues.
On Tuesdays its speedwork and most people opt for our track session. These are great for making you faster.
Thursday training sessions are more ad hoc, due to lack of demand. When there is a Thursday session, it is typically at 6 p.m. from Kingsway Sports Arena and is arranged through our Members’ WhatsApp group.
Juniors’ Training
Training sessions for juniors are held at the Kingsway Sports Arena, with both indoor and outdoor (enclosed) facilities used for different training sessions.
Training sessions for juniors take place on Thursday evenings at 7pm-7:45pm, run by our England Athletics-qualified coaching staff.
Our Thursday Juniors’ training sessions are currently full. However you can express an interest, in case a place becomes available in future, through our contact us page. Juniors of age 14 and over who are experienced runners can sometimes join our Tuesday Seniors’ track session. If you are interested in these, please let us know through our contact us page.
Please note that for child protection reasons, any non-members attending Junior training sessions at Kingsway on Thursdays (e.g. parents, guardians, carers, potential new Senior members etc.) will need to bring satisfactory identification.
