Sixteen Harriers Run the Manchester Marathon, 2026

19th April 2026

This year, 2026, sixteen Rochdale Harriers took part in the Manchester Marathon. Danny Bennett (MV55) was the first Harrier back. His mile splits for the entire race were within about 6 seconds of each other, indicating that he paced the race perfectly. He posted an impressive time of 2hrs, 49m, 26s. Next after Danny was Phil Lockett covering the 26.2 mile course, in 3hrs, 15m, 39s. He was followed by Andrew Whitehouse, who this year decided to run the marathon for enjoyment rather than as a race, to cross the line in 3hrs, 32m, 57s. Not long after, and separated only by seconds, were Harriers Dave Aspinall and Michael Jackson, in 3hrs, 35m, 19s and 3hrs, 35m, 22s respectively.

The first lady Harrier to finish was Sadaf Saeed in 4hrs, 18m, 36s. Helen Campbell was next, finishing in 4hrs, 21m, 36s, followed by Sam Fretwell, completing the race in 5hrs, 21m, 29s.
